In fact, we had the pleasure of visiting with the retired farmer who told us how he had driven his team of horses to town and used his dirt scraper (powered by the horses) to dig our basement! While all guest rooms and the common space are on the second floor, you are welcome on the first floor to join us for an evening of visiting, TV viewing, or board games. Enjoy our newly decorated three season Carousel Room, a bright sunny place to relax and enjoy your breakfast served on the ice cream table.

Northwest Iowa experiences four distinct seasons -- in spring, we watch the snow melt and the gray earth turn a lush green. In summer, the fields and gardens receive just enough rain and warm temperatures to grow and produce. Fall brings lovely gold and orange color to our trees. Days are warm and nights grow cool. Football games and an occasional frost tell us that winter is on the way. When Jack Frost has painted our windows on a consistent basis, and we wake up to new fallen snow, winter has arrived. Cross country skis, snowshoes and snowmobiles become the fun way to get from place to place.Hartley is a rural community with a population of approximately 1,600 people. The Iowa Great Lakes are a short 30-minute drive to the north on Highway 71. In Hartley, our guests can enjoy two city parks, a 9-hole golf course, swimming pool, and restaurants! We are located 90 miles from both Sioux Falls, South Dakota and Sioux City, Iowa on Highway 18. You'll find us just 2 1/2 blocks west of Central Avenue on Maple Drive. Amenities:
